Applications: MOLZINC® UND is used in the pharmaceutical industry as a topical antifungal and astringent agent for superficial fungal skin infections. It is commonly formulated as dusting powders, antifungal powders, creams, ointments, lotions and topical suspensions. It is used in the management of athlete’s foot, ringworm and jock itch by inhibiting fungal growth on the skin. Its astringent and moisture-absorbing properties help keep the affected area dry and reduce conditions favorable for fungal growth.

1 Description It occurs as a white or almost white, fine powder.
2 Solubility It is practically insoluble in water and in ethanol (95%) and in ether.
3 Melting Point Between 116 °C to 121 °C.

(A) The residue, after recrystallizing twice from ethanol (70%) and drying at a pressure riot exceeding 2 kPa for 3 hours, melts at about 67°.
(B) The pink colour of permanganate is discharged.
(C) It gives the reaction of zinc salts.
(D) Melting range: 115° to 121°.
5 Alkalinity No reddish colour appears.
6 Alkali and alkaline-earths The residue weighs not more than 20 mg.
7 Sulphates Not more than 600 ppm.
8 Degree of unsaturation Not less than 9.1 ml arid hot more than 9.4 ml of 0,05 M bromine is required to discharge the fed colour.
9 Loss on drying Not more than 1.5%.
10 Assay Not less than 98.0% and not more than 102.0% of C22H38O4Zn calculated on the dried basis.

PACKAGING

MOLZINC® UND is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in well-closed containers.
